PAEA Hosts National Conference on Alternative Energy and Climate Resilience
The Pakistan Alternative Energy Association (PAEA), a registered trade body, successfully organized a national conference on “Alternative Energy and Climate Resilience” on July 19, 2025, at Serena Hotel, Islamabad.
PAEA is at the forefront of connecting stakeholders across Pakistan’s alternative energy sectors, fostering collaboration to strengthen the country's clean energy economy and support its global role in climate resilience.
The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Shah Jahan Mirza, Managing Director, Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), who attended as the Special Guest of Honor. In his address, Mr. Mirza shared insights into Pakistan’s renewable energy policies and emphasized the importance of accelerating the transition to clean energy.
He stated that renewable energy is not only vital for meeting the country’s growing electricity needs but also essential in combating the effects of climate change—an urgent challenge for a country among the most vulnerable to global warming.
Mr. Mirza reaffirmed the government's commitment to green energy, highlighting the target of achieving a 60% share of renewable energy (including hydropower) in the national grid by 2030, as per current policy goals.
He also commended PAEA’s initiative in organizing the first national conference that brought together stakeholders from diverse clean energy domains—including solar, wind, hydropower, biofuels, electric vehicles, and more. He emphasized the importance of such platforms in fostering dialogue, coordination, and sector-wide momentum, and encouraged PAEA to continue leading such efforts in the future.
