The 2025 edition of the Global NDC Conference was held in Berlin, from 11-13 June 2025, supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), hosted by the Federal Government of Germany, and co-organised by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the NDC Partnership, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This high-level international event brought together government representatives, policy makers, climate finance institutions, and development organizations from all over the world to accelerate the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
Mr. Shah Jahan Mirza, Managing Director Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) who is leading the Mitigation Working Group for drafting Pakistan’s NDC 3.0 participated the conference where he emphasized that despite contributing less than 1% to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Pakistan remains firmly committed to tackling the challenges of climate change. Mr. Mirza also underscored PPIB’s strategic role in aligning national energy planning with sustainability goals and advancing Pakistan’s climate commitments. While outlining government’s key initiatives and progress made for addressing the climate change and the impediments being faced, Mr. Mirza called for robust international cooperation by mobilizing adequate and sustainable finance to support Pakistan’s shift toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.
